Advocate - responsibilities

The Advocate serves as the council's legal representative, akin to a council attorney, and ensures that meetings and proceedings follow established procedures. 

While not requiring formal legal training, the Advocate should be knowledgeable in Robert's Rules of Order, the council's bylaws, the Order's Charter, Constitution, and Laws, and methods of conducting council meetings. 

• Acts as the council parliamentarian, ensuring adherence to protocol  and procedures. 
• May seek legal assistance from the state advocate if necessary. 
• Represents the council in trials and investigations.
• Familiar with the council's by-laws, the Order's Charter, Constitution and Laws, and Robert's Rules of Order.
